  1. Here’s one of those that was me. #36. Won the Clubman class, on the GSXR my finish was forgettable in both B classes. Van broke down in Irondale on the way, little practice, blah blah…man do I miss it.

      1. Larry,

Yes, it is a 1982 model left over, I bought as my first race bike in 1984, still have it in the back of my garage, complete but not running. Great learner, but tough to keep up with the GPz305s at Texas World Speedway.

Thanks for pictures of both bikes, I never thought much about going from a 500 single to a 750 4 cylinder on the same day back then. Probably helped on the Ascot, not so much on the GSXR.

That’s Craig Gleason #271 from San Marcos, Texas.

  2. That was my first win ever in BSB Novice, on Mike Harths old yellow FZ750. One of the piston wrist pin retaining circlips was missing. So the wrist pin soon wore a groove up/down the cylinder wall. This allowed the bottom end to be pressurized from the combustion and pushed oil up thru the crank overflow and into the reservoir behind the front number plate. Toward the end of the final, it was blowing oil all over my face shield on the straights. Preetty epic at the time, as I battled George Fox. Didn’t know what was going on at the time. Glad no one had issues from the oil that day.
