Another great image in the Colin Fraser Collection showing riders at the 1989 RACE National Awards Banquet. Canada’s Superbike riders celebrate their success. From Left to Right: Norm Murphy (Suzuki), Miguel Duhamel (Suzuki), Steve Crevier (Yamaha, with Canada Cup), Tommy Douglas (Yamaha), outgoing Champ Rueben McMurter (Honda), Steve Dick (Suzuki), Michel Mercier (Suzuki) and RACE Boss Alan Labrosse. Seated at the front of the stage are Crevier’s tuners Steve Wyatt and Rick Hobbs.

The late 1980s was perhaps the peak of motorcycle road racing in Canada. During this period many of those top riders came down and found tremendous success in American racing. Duhamel and Crevier won AMA National Championships. Labrosse was a two-time AMA National race winner (in AMA 250 Grand Prix) and McMurter and Mercier were top runners in AMA Road Racing as well.
