A month or so ago former racer John Westcott sent me a batch of photos he took at the races over the years. John was not a pro racing photographer, but he captured some great shots of the 1980s and early-90s road racing scene. One action shot stood out above all others and actually made John look like a pro. It was this amazing panning shot of German racer Johannes Klement aboard his Mobel Spiegler Racing Yamaha in the 1981 AMA International Lightweight (250GP) class at Daytona. The background is blurred from the speed, yet Klement is sharp. The unique fairing on Klement’s Yamaha is also notable. A great capture by John.
