Larry Pegram (No. 72), racing the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R600, leads Erion Honda’s Eric Bostrom (No. 17) and Kawasaki’s Tommy Hayden (No. 22) during their fierce battle for the Pro Honda Oils AMA 600 Supersport race at Pikes Peak International Raceway in September of 1998. That’s exactly the order in which they finished. It was not uncommon for the three brands to battle up front that season. Steve Crevier won the championship in ’98 on a Suzuki over Doug Chandler (Kaw) and Eric Bostrom (Honda). And check out Lawrence Kaplan (No. 124), who at that moment had the best seat in the house.
