Monte Nichols Wins in His Pro Thunder Debut (1999)

Talk about happy surprise and astonishment. That was the feeling in front of the podium for Monte Nichols, his family and crew, after Monte pulled off the upset, last-lap victory over Shawn Conrad in the AMA Pro Thunder round at Road America in June of 1999. It was his debut in the series! Monte was another in a line of local riders winning big national races in Elkhart Lake, from Todd Harrington, to Monte Nichols, to Jason Farrell, every once in a while the local boys make good in a big way.
